As part of the immersive performance “Nocturnes for a Society” by Myriam Van Imschoot and Lucas van Haesbroeck, audiences are invited to two “Embodied Practices” held in complement to the performances. These sessions focus on the production of felt as a shared practice and the voice as a medium of community building. These two exchange sessions make up the next instalment in Radialsystem’s series of “Embodied Practices”, which collectively explore forms of preserving and transmitting corporeal practices from different cultural contexts.
The production of felt is an ancient process. Felting creates connections; it is a special moment of encounter enabled by its simple technique and the fact that is requires many hands to accomplish. In the open atmosphere that this work engenders, conversations may arise, and knowledge and techniques related to wool and the felting process exchanged and applied. Participants have the opportunity to make felt blankets, each of which are unique and special with their own motifs and patterns. The felt blankets will then form an integral part of Myriam Van Imschoot’s and Lucas Van Haesbroeck’s performance “Nocturnes for a Society”.
Nocturnes for a Society
Myriam Van Imschoot and Lucas van Haesbroeck’s performance Nocturnes for a Society enfolds the audience in a poetic soundscape over the course of a summer night, marking the start of Radialsystem’s new series Conjunctions - Acts of being in relation, a programme dedicated to the poetry of “being in relation”. The immersive sound experience of “Nocturnes” continues throughout the night, stretching into the early hours of the morning. The audience are active participants in an environment akin to an oasis of light, shadows, sounds, fabrics and dreams, opening space for associations and creating both an individual and shared experiential world.

Biographien
Lucas van Haesbroeck (1981) arbeitet als Lichttechniker im Toneelhuis, wo er bereits mit Künstler*innen wie Guy Cassiers, Olympique Dramatique, Mokhallad Rasem und Abke Haring zusammengearbeitet hat. Er entwickelt Beleuchtungskonzepte und Dekorationen für Theater- und Musikproduktionen.
Mit Conjunctions - Acts of being in relation startet eine neue Programmreihe im Radialsystem, die sich der Poesie des „In-Beziehung-Seins“ widmet. In vier Akten mit unterschiedlichen thematischen Gewichtungen werden choreografische und musikalische Praxen als verkörperte Strategien der Wissensproduktion und der Weitergabe von Wissen erlebbar. Der Trennung von Körper und Geist, dem Dualismus von Denken und Handeln und der Vorstellung einer Universalität des Wissens wird dabei eine Vielfalt von Möglichkeiten der Wissensproduktion entgegengesetzt, die mit und aus der Realität unterschiedlich situierter Körper entsteht.
Im Zentrum der Aufmerksamkeit stehen Überlegungen, wie durch verkörperte Praktiken temporäre Gemeinschaften entstehen können, welche Machtverhältnisse dabei sichtbar werden, und welche neuen Vorstellungswelten und emanzipatorische Strategien aus verkörperten Beziehungen resultieren. Begleitend zu immersiven Performances, Konzerten und choreografischen Arbeiten setzen wir flankierend zu der neuen Reihe unser Austauschformat „Embodied Practices“ fort, in dessen Rahmen Formen des Bewahrens und Weitergebens von Körperpraktiken aus unterschiedlichen kulturellen Zusammenhängen miteinander erprobt werden.
