An invitation to myriad artistic interventions and dialogues has been issued by the mentoring programme “Forecast”, which promotes the transdisciplinary exchange of forward-looking artistic ideas on an international scale. The festival, the pinnacle of the programme’s seventh edition, takes place from 17-18 March at Radialsystem.
At the festival, six young film artists, performers, musicians and creative thinkers will present projects that have been created over the past ten months in collaboration with their internationally renowned mentors. In addition, the six mentors will be showing their own works developed especially for the Forecast Festival. Contributions in a variety of formats ranging from stand-up comedy to deconstructed magic, immersive film installations and voice experiments can be discovered. The programme is complemented by discussions and workshops.

„Expanded Magic“: Tom Cassani (Mentee) und Florentina Holzinger (Mentor)
Performer Tom Cassani is expanding the limits of magic as an embodied performance in Expanded Magic.
„An Anthology of Glances“: Mia Štark (Mentee) & Ana Prvački (Mentor)
Artist Mia Štark's performative piece An Anthology of Glances probes, using humor and a taste for the absurd, the importance of changing perspectives.

„Purgatoire (Cinema that Kills)“: Alexis Guillier (Mentee) und Alia Ibrahim (Mentor)
Alexis Guillier is researching a deadly accident on a 1968 Lebanese film set in project Purgatoire (Cinema that Kills).
„What Humans See as Blood, Jaguars See as Chicha“: Luciana Decker Orozco (Mentee) und Laura Huertas Millán (Mentor)
Luciana Decker Orozco is exploring storytelling about deities, sacred objects, and spaces in the Andes with a film project titled What Humans See as Blood, Jaguars See as Chicha.
„The Marblous Four“: Hamza Baig (Mentee) und Daliso Chaponda (Mentor)
Hamza Baig is developing a web series, The Marblous Four, centered on an unlikely superhero in a Pakistani village.
„鳳殞 (Sorrow of the Phoenix)“: Peny Chan (Mentee) und Rully Shabara (Mentor)
Performer Peny Chan's project seeks to experiment with and deconstruct the style of the Peking Opera.
Workshops, Saturday 18 March
„Gestures of Maintenance“ – A workshop on networked thinking by Studio Inscape
Trained as architects and urbanists, the members of Rotterdam-based Studio Inscape aim to translate eco-philosophical theory into practice within the built environment. Participants in this workshop will consider spatial arrangements, power relations, and possible future scenarios.
„Borderline Investigations“ – A walk on the edge by Tevi Allan Mensah
Workshop, 3-4 pm
Architect and visual artist Tevi Allan Mensah invites participants to reflect together on the new narratives of tomorrow through a fundamental act: a walk. During the workshop preceding the walk at 4pm, participants will prepare archetypes such as traveling structures, flags, and banners to accompany the odd procession while discussing borders, past and present. The workshop involves building a light wooden structure and screen-printing flags. Suitable for ages 7 and up.
Parade, 4-5 pm
Architect and visual artist Tevi Allan Mensah invites participants to reflect together on the new narratives of tomorrow through a fundamental act: a walk. This tour will explore the former Berlin Wall territory and its surroundings near Radialsystem to contemplate on the margins as areas of potential for change. The parade is open to all ages and begins at 4pm.

Forecast offers artists and creative thinkers from anywhere in the world the chance to work with accomplished mentors toward bringing their projects to fruition. As an international mentorship program with annual editions, Forecast transcends neatly defined disciplines and genres to provide insight into creative production processes, and carve out space for the questions on the minds of the next generation of trailblazers.
