Three concerts, two dancers, one poet: At a time of social change and political crisis, music and culture are at an intriguing crossroad. Can traditional concert formats still productively address current issues or are new ways of thinking about forms of perception, cultural formats and sounds needed?

The kick-off of the concert series "STOP OVER 2" on 28 April at Radialsystem presents three passionate music projects, Beatdenker, un.procedure and Pili Coït, whose artistic paths reveal radically different perspectives on a unique and modern sound: From unruly beats to progressive junk percussion and London underground grooves, from electronic collisions or explosive vocals to detuned guitars or electrified saxophone.

With different performances and an immersive stage design, the opening concert of "STOP OVER 2" invites the audience to a deconstructed evening that reorganises the senses and seeks to set new impulses.

With "STOP OVER 2 - A concert series", the Radialsystem presents the start of a new concert series on 28 April. On four Sundays, "STOP OVER 2" invites artists from the fields of jazz and improvised music to rethink concerts - and thus create spaces in which musicians and audiences can meet in a special way and experience music in a new way.

Biographien

Beatdenker combines and improvises live beat music, jazz, carnatic music, new music, IDM and electronica live: Beatdenker's post-contemporary beats - combined with finger drumming, synthesiser guitar, loop station, samples and effects - are energetic, rhythmically complex and danceable. Beatdenker has performed at numerous festivals, including Fusion Festival, Red Light Radio Amsterdam/NL, Jazzfestival Leipzig and others.

The performer, choreographer and director Birgit Wieger develops dance, theatre and performance projects at the interface of reality and fiction with a focus on interactive, site-specific and live art formats. She combines movement, sound, space and objects to create unconventional movement and soundscapes. She is currently also working with the groups Das Letzte Kleinod, Grotest Maru and Directie & Co.

Clara Gracia is an actress, performer and dancer. After studying journalism in Madrid, she studied acting in Barcelona and Turku. She has worked with artists such as Takahashi, Meredith Nadler, Ingo Reulecke, Alexandra Rauh, Stella Zannou, Valentina Bordenave and Heike Scharpff and is a member of the international theatre groups Grotest Maru and Theater Anu.

The Italian performer and sound artist Matto Zoppi uses words, voice and sound as artistic expression to produce grotesque and extreme narrative actions in the context of radio, performance, digital media and image projects. With the project "San Giorgio Cibernetico", he was a finalist in the 2021 Alberto Dubito Prize for Poetry and Music. His latest solo sound work "Dedalo" was released by Fango Radio Editions in 2023.

The French "indie love grunge" duo Pili Coït consists of Guilhem Meier (guitar, vocals) and Jessica Martin Maresco (prepared percussions). Pili Coït's sound evolves dynamically while remaining faithful to a false minimalism that characterises the duo: an unclassifiable drum kit, an oil can and low-fi synth drums, accompanied by a 12-string guitar with twice as many strings. Crazy, fragile and intense.

un.procedure is an experimental-improvised electronic band from Birmingham and Berlin. Synthesiser player Piera Onacko, alto saxophonist Cassie Kinoshi and drummer and electronic artist Nathan England-Jones move between doomy atmospheres, psychedelic textures and cosmic synthesiser passages with their electronically charged sound.

For the first time, an anchor institution for production, presentation, research, networking, discourse and mediation is to be created. As an innovative cultural institution of the 21st century, it can dedicate itself to practical and theoretical research as well as the further development of transdisciplinary and transcultural perspectives for these forms of music. The institution is currently being established as a Zentrum under construction.
