Michaela Melián: „Red Threads“
In “Red Threads” the work on the work complex TANIA is presented. Tania is the fighting name of Tamara Bunke, who was born in 1937 to a German-Jewish family in exile in Chile. The family moved to the GDR and Tamara studied at Humboldt University. In the 1960s, she left for Cuba, where she joined the guerrilla struggle led by Che Guevara in Bolivia and was shot dead in 1967. The major themes of the 20th century come together in her life story: National Socialism/fascism, migration and exile, socialist modernity, emancipation and the post-colonial struggle for liberation. To this day, however, Tamara Bunke's biography can only be pieced together on the basis of many stories and unreliable documents.
The series ‘Talks on Curatorial and Artistic Practice’ by the OnCurating Academy Berlin and Dorothee Richter, continues at Radialsystem from December 2024, carving out space for critical curatorial thinking as well as new perspectives and formats in the context of curatorial practices. The OnCurating Academy Berlin is an international postgraduate programme and platform that aims to strengthen the community of emerging curators, artists, and cultural workers.
The focus of the series builds upon the platform and the OnCurating postgraduate programme, and aligns with goal of (further) developing cooperative and interdisciplinary working methods. Curating means the creation of innovative structures toward the presentation of cultural artefacts through collaboration. In curatorial practice, art, digital media, design and architecture overlap in new ways that require constant reflection.

Biographien
Michaela Melián, Künstlerin und Musikerin, ist bekannt für ihre multimedialen Installationen, Hörspiele und Klangarbeiten. Sie ist Mitbegründerin der Band F.S.K. und lehrte bis 2023 an der Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg im Fachbereich Zeitbezogene Medien. In den letzten Jahren wurden ihre Arbeiten u.a. im Lenbachhaus München, in der Fundació Juan Miró Barcelona, in der Kunsthal Rotterdam, in den Deichtorhallen Hamburg, in der Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, in der Kunsthalle Mannheim, im Lentos Museum Linz, im Cubitt London, in Ludlow New York und im The War and Women's Human Rights Museum, Seoul, und im Kindl Berlin ausgestellt. Im Jahr 2010 realisierte sie im Auftrag der Stadt München Memory Loops, ein akustisches Mahnmal für die Opfer des Nationalsozialismus.
OnCurating Academy Berlin ist ein internationales Postgraduierten-programm für kuratorische Praxis und Theorie. Sie versteht sich als eine Lern-, Austausch und Weiterbildungsplattform, die mit hybriden Formaten, online und in Kollaboration mit Institutionen in Berlin, Raum für kritisches Kuratieren und neue Perspektiven auf kuratorische Praktiken schafft. Dabei spielen kollektive Formen des Kuratierens, die die Situiertheit von Wissen, die Dekolonialisierung von Kunstinstitutionen, digitale Medien, queer-feministische Perspektiven und Theorien sowie urbane und ökologische Entwicklungen in den Mittelpunkt stellen, entscheidende Rollen.
Dorothee Richter ist Autorin, Kuratorin und Professorin für Contemporary Curating der Fakultät für Bildende Kunst der Universität Reading. Sie ist Mitbegründerin der Plattform oncurating.org.
