A journey into the realm of interconnectedness: The new performance “The Infinite Gesture” by Ixchel Mendoza Hernández, which premieres at Radialsystem in mid-December, explores the transformative power of touch, connection and empathy. From the sensitive gesture of touch grows a deeply intertwined choreographic landscape in which three performers encounter each other and pose questions about our social co-existence. In “The Infinite Gesture”, they investigate different perspectives on coming-into-connection: From skin-to-skin contact to symbolic, metaphysical and societal dimensions of being together. In this performance, Ixchel Mendoza Hernández makes tangible the potential of touch to shift power hierarchies, dependencies and care and seeks alternative narratives for this network of relationships.
For many years, Berlin-based choreographer and performer Mendoza Hernández has been exploring a phenomenon that she calls “Visual Ghost” – a continuously changing consciousness of perception and inner virtuality. In a world where visible and invisible, subjective and objective realities are closely interwoven, she investigates how the immaterial and the invisible can become “present” through physical experience. Using choreographic tools, she examines how we can reconstruct and reshape perceptual realities.
“The Infinite Gesture” will premiere at Radialsystem as part of the :LOVE: cooperation between Tanzfabrik Berlin and Radialsystem. With the initiative “Radialsystem ♥ Tanzfabrik”, the two institutions are working together to improve the labor and presentation conditions of dance professionals in Berlin.

Biographien
Ixchel Mendoza Hernández studierte Choreografie und Tanz am ArtEZ in Arnheim. Von 2013 bis 2015 setzte sie ihr Studium mit einem MA in Solo/Dance/Authorship (SoDA) am HZT in Berlin fort. Als Tänzerin, Performerin und Choreografin hat sie u.a. mit Künstler*innen wie Susanne Kennedy, Kat Válastur, Anna Anderegg und Michelle Moura zusammengearbeitet. Zu den bisherigen choreografischen Arbeiten von Ixchel Mendoza Hernández gehören „THE TWOFOLD PARADOX“ (2018) und „The Reversed Alchemist:Figure 4-6“ (2021). 2022 entwickelte sie mit Susanne Kennedy die Choreografie für die Neuinszenierung der Oper „Einstein on the Beach“. Ihr Solostück „THE MULTIPLICITY OF THE OTHER“ wurde im November 2023 in der Tanzfabrik Berlin uraufgeführt.
Emeka Ene wurde in London geboren und wuchs in Berlin auf. Er absolvierte einen BA in Tanz, Kontext und Choreografie am HZT Berlin und arbeitete als Tänzer mit Choreograf*innen wie Jefta van Dinther, Sheena McGrandles, Lee Meir und Milla Koistinen. Er beschäftigt sich insbesondere mit der Frage, was Menschen zum Tanzen bringt und motiviert. Diese Herangehensweise hat sein Interesse an Beziehungen, liebevollen Praktiken und Technologien der Emotionalität geweckt.
Sebastian Elias Kurth ist Künstler, Performer und Choreograf und lebt in Berlin und Marseille. Er studierte Tanz an der London Contemporary Dance School und Architektur an der Universität der Künste. Er arbeitete als Tänzer in ganz Europa und als Architekt in Madrid. In seinen Arbeiten untersucht er, wie Körper Atmosphären konstruieren und wie Technologie unser Gefühl für Raum und Präsenz verändert. Als Choreograf entwickelte er vier Performances, darunter „Broken Spaces Are More Likely“, eine Performance-Serie auf einer Baustelle, und „Landscape of Hyper“, ein poetischer Atlas über das menschliche Verhalten.

Tanzfabrik Berlin and Radialsystem have presented artists to a broad audience on the stages of Radialsystem since spring 2019. The collaboration aims to improve the labor and presentation conditions of dance professionals in Berlin beyond their individual institutional contexts. In addition to the visibility of this joint platform, an important moment of nexus between local and international artists and scenes is achieved. Both institutions provide equal support to the artists in the forms of co-production resources, rehearsal spaces and public relations work.

An Audio Description is a audio track that is recorded live by professional audio describers using a headset for people with visual impairments. The audio describers are trained to clearly and engagingly describe the significant visual details of a performance that would be inaccessible to viewers with visual impairments.
Haptic Access Tours
20-30-minute live guided tours before the performance in addition to the audio descriptions. They enable visitors with visual impairments to experience the space, the performers, the costumes and objects as well as the most important movement elements of a performance through touch and their own movement.
