Stopping time. Pausing. Hesitating. Remaining. Hoping. Desiring. – What remains when we come into contact with one another?

What is the potential of these fragments? In the Berlin premiere of “The rest of dance”, performed at Radialsystem as part of a long weekend of dance, choreographers Ana Laura Lozza and Bárbara Hang explore the traces that are left behind when bodies encounter one another and separate again. In a choreography of interrupted temporality, the artists trace novel ethical and poetic relationships between the visible and invisible, the ephemeral and permanent. “The rest of dance” is a dance comprising what is left behind. An excessive dimension that is ever present in the body. A remnant as a provision for that which will come.

Biographien

Ana Laura Lozza & Bárbara Hang are a performing artist duo. They develop their work in choreography and dance and move transversely among education, dramaturgy, curating and writing. They conceive their artistic practice as a possibility to imagine and move towards new forms of common existence. Through the activation and actualization of affects, questions and desires they inquire into the material and immaterial dimensions of the body in the encounter with others.

Michelle Moura was born in Brazil and currently lives in Berlin. Dance studies between 2010 and 2008 at the Centre National de la Danse Contemporaine d'Angers (FR) under the direction of Emmanuelle Huyhn. Master studies at the Das Choreography (2015), Amsterdam. Her creations have been presented in international dance and performing arts festivals including Impulstanz (AU), HAU – Hebbel am Ufer (DE) and La Biennale di Venezia (IT). As dancer, she has worked with Lea Moro (CH/DE), Wilhelm Groener (DE), Vincent Dupont (FR) among others. Her performance OVERTONGUE, was invited as one of 13 productions to the Tanzplattform Deutschland 2022.

Sara Neidorf is a Berlin-based drummer and film curator. She drums in the bands Mellowdeath, Aptera, Mad Kate | The Tide, and Sarattma. She's toured internationally with such artists as The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Tau, and Sometimes With Others, and has also drummed for theater and dance productions at the Volksbühne and Sophiensaele, and in a commissioned piece at 3hd Festival. She co-directs and curates Final Girls Berlin Film Festival, which screens horror films made by FLINTA* filmmakers. Whether in her music or film work, she's interested in exploring crevices, tensions, transgressions, and the sites where convention and expectation implode upon themselves.

Mirella Brandi is an Italian light artist, known for her ability to subvert the conventional use of light equipment and to create singular experiences for audiences through visual narratives. With a career spanning several fields, including contemporary dance and opera, Mirella has collaborated with numerous dance companies and independent artists. Together with musician Muep Etmo, Mirella has been conducting research on light and sound narratives for over 16 years, resulting in the creation of mesmerizing concerts and performances.
