Four weekends with concerts, performances and installations
We are getting closer!
It is with great anticipation that we look to August: over four long summer weekends, we will once again open radialsystem to the public and cordially invite you to the concerts, installations, and performances that follow.
The different rooms of the building, the Spree Terrace, and the covered Deck are all to be discovered in a different way than before. Over the past few weeks, we have come to learn how important and yet fragile the shared experience of live performances is. In order to ensure that everyone feels safe and at ease at our relaunch, we want to allow for plenty of space and time for these encounters to unfold onsite. Therefore, together with the participating artists and ensembles, we have developed artistic formats that foster unusual aesthetic experiences and through which radialsystem can also be encountered in a new way.
We open the four-week program with the concert, “Witold/Nico/(Jaws),” by the Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop, to be held in a special setting in the Main Hall. Those who like things to be even more relaxed can listen to the music up on the deck, high above the Spree. Every weekend, a series of (sound) installations and “durational performances” by Hanno Leichtmann, Peter Cusack, Guerilla Architects and Alicia Agustín, Deva Schubert, Juan Dominguez, and Wojtek Blecharz can be experienced individually – alone or in pairs – in a nearly museum-like atmosphere. The company Sasha Waltz & Guests will fill the building from the basement to the roof with life and movement through “Dialogues 2020 – Relevant Systems.” And finally, at the end of the month, we will celebrate the conclusion of the “New Empathies” series, in which Wojtek Blecharz’s “Sound-fields” will flood every corner of radialsystem with sound. In addition, Sandhya Daemgen continues her successful deep listening series, “What’s That Noise,” and dancer-choreographer Tilman O’Donnell and jazz guitarist Mikkel Ploug present the dance performance, “In Some Sense.” Every weekend, the newly designed Spree Terrace and/or our sun deck invite you to enjoy food and drinks directly on the waterfront before and after the evening events.
From September to November, radialsystem may be rented out for conferences, media productions, etc. However, artistic events also take place within these three months, to which we extend a warm welcome to our audience. Among other events, we already look forward to a September concert by the Zafraan Ensemble, and, in October, the Radical Sounds Latin America Festival, and a choral installation by Catherine Milliken, as well as the start of our new concert series, “Outernational: Transtraditional Concerts.”
Advance booking will start on Friday, July 24th and will follow a sequential schedule. The individual dates for advance booking and for the registration for individual events you can find in the information below.
